— Wheezie to Rafe in The Bell Tower
| ||
Louisa "Wheezie" Cameron is one of the recurring characters in Outer Banks. She is portrayed by Julia Antonelli.
Wheezie is the youngest child of Ward Cameron, the youngest sibling of Sarah and Rafe, and the step-daughter of Rose Cameron. She's often confused and left in the dark, or manipulated and used by her family members.
Early Life[]
Similarly like her brother Rafe, she has noticed Ward's favoritism towards Sarah. We know this when she refers to her brother Rafe and herself as the "black sheep" of the family, but unlike her brother she doesn't hold it against her sister.
History[]
Wheezie is known to eavesdrop and butt into the lives of her older siblings, Rafe and Sarah. Regardless of this, she and Sarah have a close relationship and she helps her sister in whatever way she can. They have an unspoken trust which burns strong between them and Wheezie covers for Sarah when she sneaks out of the house. She considers her and Rafe to be the "black sheep" of the family and tries to help him out with money during the time that Ward kicks him out of the house.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
Wheezie seems to have a decent relationship with both her siblings. Post hurricane Agatha she is seen complaining about there not being any internet available. When John B and Sarah are talking when he steals the scuba gear she is secretly over hearing them. She later on tells Topper, who is Sarah's boyfriend. While the Kooks are cleaning up the beach she takes an alcoholic beverage from her sister and drinks it, despite her only being thirteen years old. Later when she's throwing up she asks Sarah to not tell Ward but in exchange her sister wants her to cover her sneaking out at night.
After Sarah has a fight with Topper at said party she comes home into Wheezie's room for comfort. On midsummers day she teases her sister for not being into Topper anymore, which irritates Sarah. At night when Wheezie is covering for Sarah as a decoy she ends up telling Topper that her sister is with John B at the Hawks Nest. When Rafe is kicked out he calls Wheezie for money. When Rafe kills Sheriff Peterkin he lies to Wheezie and tells her that it was John B that shot her. When Sarah is locked in her room she manipulates Wheezie into letting her out. She tells Wheezie that John B did not kill Sheriff Peterkin, then Wheezie asks who did and Sarah refuses to tell her that it was Rafe, not wanting to taint her sisters relationship with him. Wheezie is told that Sarah is "dead" offscreen after the season one finale.
Season 2[]
Our first look at Wheezie is her at Sheriff Peterkin's funeral. Wheezie, who mourning her "dead" sister, gets a phone call and it's revealed to be Sarah who is alive and well in the Bahamas. She needs information about their father. Wheezie keeps in contact with Sarah over the phone, keeping her presence in OBX secret from Rose and Ward. Rafe uses Wheezie's phone to manipulate Sarah into meeting with him. When the police go to Tannyhill to arrest Ward, Sarah tells Wheezie to go inside the house, not wanting her to see the arrest. Wheezie is seen crying when watching Ward's "confession" video after the boat explosion where we assume he died.
Wheezie explains what Carla Limbrey was doing at Tannyhill to the Pogues. Wheezie explains to Rafe that Rose left for the mainland to meet with lawyers, to which he seems surprised about. After Sarah is drugged Wheezie is manipulated by Rose into helping her bring Sarah to the car. Rose does not allow her to unlock the doors when the Pogues ask her to. When Sarah is brought on The Coastal Venture Wheezie tries to cheer her up by telling her that they're going to their own "private island" and seems to be completely unfazed by her father being alive. When Rafe shows Wheezie the Cross of Santo Domingo she is more concerned about Sarah's well-being. Wheezie is left behind with her family on the boat heading to Guadeloupe.
Season 3[]
Wheezie is shown in Guadeloupe with her father (who is still recovering from his injury) and Rose. Later on, offscreen, Ward convinces Wheezie to record a voice memo for her sister, Sarah, explaining she ran away and wants to see her. Ward uses this as a way to trick Sarah into meeting with him on the Outer Banks when he returns to the island. Sarah, two steps ahead, knew it was a setup by her father. We are not told about Wheezie after that, but it's clear she remains on Guadeloupe with Rose.
"Sarah, don't be mad, but I ran away. I'm in the OBX, and I have to see you. Come to our rental condo on Greensboro Street, okay? But, Sarah, please don't tell anyone."
Season 4[]
Three weeks later the Pogues are finally home from South America. Sarah gets in contact with Rose over the phone and tells her that Ward is dead. Rose is convinced that Sarah (and the Pogues) killed her father and doesn't allow her to speak with Wheezie. After the time jump in season four Sarah and Wheezie still haven't spoken in nearly two years. Wheezie has no actual appearance this season.
Season 5[]
TBD
Relationships[]
Sarah[]
Sarah and Wheezie are sisters, and the closest of all three siblings. They both trust the other and Wheezie covers for Sarah when she sneaks out of the house. When Wheezie thought Sarah was dead, she missed her very much and was ecstatic when she found out that Sarah was still alive. Wheezie always covers for Sarah when it's needed. In season four Rose prevents Sarah from contacting Wheezie.
Rafe[]
Rafe is Wheezie's older brother, they are seen arguing a lot but Rafe seems to get along better with Wheezie than with Sarah, most likely due to Sarah being their fathers favorite. Wheezie and Rafe have been seen bonding over that fact. In season four Rafe mentions that Rose is preventing him from contacting Wheezie.
Ward[]
Wheezie seems to be very fond of her father regardless of his known favoritism towards Sarah. She doesn't seem to understand or be very aware of the things Ward has done. Due to her being kept in the dark her relationship with her father never changed even after his death. She still isn't aware of the things Ward did.
Rose[]
Like her siblings, Wheezie doesn't seem to enjoy being around Rose.
The Pogues[]
It's unclear on what she thinks about Pogues in general but she doesn't seem to mind the main friend group based on her interactions with them throughout the show.
Physical Appearance[]
Wheezie stands at a shy 5'2" and looks to weigh in around an average weight for her height. She has long dark brown and curly hair, that is typically braided and pushed back and out of her face. Her appearance is composed of a pale skin tone accompanied by dark brown eyes which are framed by what can be assumed to be prescription glasses. Wheezie is also typically seen wearing horse stud earrings.
