Post the 18 months time jump, the Pogues begin to run into trouble managing their money. During the El Dorado recognition event they are approached by Wes. He offers them the job of finding Blackbeard's lost treasure.
Season 4[]
Wes is introduced as a mysterious and eccentric person who draws the Pogues into a new adventure surrounding the cursed legacy of Blackbeard. Claiming that his family has been haunted by a 300-year-old curse, which killed his daughter, he seeks the Pogues' help to retrieve an ancient amulet from Blackbeard's last ship, the Adventure, which he believes holds the key to lifting this curse. Wes offers the Pogues a reward, hoping their adventurous spirit will compel them to take on the mission. His knowledge of Blackbeard's history and insistence on the curse intrigues the Pogues, particularly as it presents a potential solution to their financial problems.
Wes's erratic behavior becomes more evident when he recounts a strange tale involving Blackbeard and a woman named Elizabeth, even suggesting that he has encountered her ghost. He believes the amulet to be cursed, warning that retrieving it could be dangerous yet essential for breaking the curse. This eerie belief fascinates and unnerves the Pogues, but Wes's offer of $50,000 is too tempting for them to refuse. The Pogues agree to recover the amulet from the wreck site near Goat Island. After the Pogues retrieve the amulet, they plan to return it to Wes. However, they arrive only to find that Wes has mysteriously died, leaving behind a string of unanswered questions.
