Kildare Island is the primary location of the series. It is one of the islands that make up the OBX.
History[]
Before the Civil War, slave Denmark Tanney was the sole survivor of the Royal Merchant shipwreck. He used the gold he salvaged in the wreck to buy his freedom and then other slaves' freedom. He purchased the island and buried the gold near his property. Before he was lynched he wrote to his son to tell him to "harvest the wheat" - a coded message for the gold. This message was lost to history over time. The island was sold into smaller sections over time, however, a division within Figure 8 remained to honor his memory - Tanneyhill.
