Happy Anniversary is the seventh episode of the third season of Outer Banks. It is the twenty-seventh episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
With Singh on the move, John B and JJ scramble to catch him. Pope makes a breakthrough. Sarah questions where her loyalties lie.
Plot[]
JJ and John B go to Sowell’s house to find out more information. They find a clipping from a newspaper with a photograph from the digging expedition. John B sees a man named Neville Persaud in the photo and realizes this is who Sowell must’ve been talking about. He and JJ find Neville but Carlos’ men arrive at the same time to kill Neville. They help Neville get away and make a plan to get John B’s dad back.
Ward returns to the Outer Banks. He finds Rafe and asks him about what he’s doing with the cross. Rafe tells him he melted it down for gold and is selling it. He tells Ward he doesn’t need him anymore and has a plan of his own. Wheezie reaches out to her sister, Sarah, explaining she ran away and wants to see her. Sarah agrees and goes to meet her but is intercepted by Ward. He gives her a key to a condo and a credit card with money as a peace offering.
JJ and John B go to Kiara’s parents’ anniversary party to meet with the rest of the Pogues. They want to make a plan to get John B back. Sarah admits to John B that she hooked up with Topper. This sets John B off. He beats up Topper and knocks him out completely. He and JJ run away. JJ tried to get Kiara to come with but she refused.
Pope and Cleo go through Denmark Tanny’s belongings to look for answers. They find a letter to Clarice Tanny, which mentions a city of gold. It also has a translation of the idol.

- This is the first episode where another character, other than John B, is the narrator. In this case, it's Sarah.
- Wheezie does not physically appear in this episode, but her voice is heard as Sarah listens to the audio text.
- While talking to Kiara about what happened the night before, Sarah mentions that she kissed Topper, something she feels very embarrassed about because she's still with John B.
- We meet the new character of "Sofia".
- The last time Sarah and John B broke up, Sarah initiated it. This time, however, John B is the one that initiates it, and beats up Topper as a result, knocking him unconscious.
- During the Topper and John B fight scene, there is a girl at the party who looks like Wheezie Cameron, but without the glasses.
- Wheezie becomes the second character of a show to have a lookalike at a certain location after Dustin Brooks from Zoey 101.
